New Tweet Drive Foundation Mascot Aims to Bring Greater Awareness to Annual Toy Drive

HOUSTON - September 27, 2018 – The Tweet Drive Foundation, a non-profit that collects toys for children’s charities during each holiday season, announced today the unveiling of the new design for their mascot, Tweet D™. The character, first introduced in 2014, has been reimagined to capture the imagination and hearts of supporters and help raise awareness to the foundation’s expanding, multi-city charitable cause.

Discussions around the proposed redesign of the mascot began nearly 18 months ago as part of an idea to extend the much-loved fictional character to other publishing and media opportunities. Designed in partnership with children’s book publisher, Famous Giraffe, the new Tweet D character embodies the event’s joyful identity and family-friendly atmosphere.

“From the outset, our goal for the new design was to bring to life the cheerfulness and magic of Tweet D and the Tweet Drive event as a whole,” says Jeff James, chairman of the Tweet Drive Foundation. “We wanted to create a friendly, welcoming ambassador for both the event and the community. This is an exciting day for our organization, including all of the volunteers who wear the Tweet D pins with pride each year in support of our toy drive event.”

The Tweet Drive Foundation has officially launched Tweet D’s brand-new look on both their website and social media. Future utilizations of the new Tweet D mascot are yet to be announced, but event organizers hope to see their new mascot featured in children’s publications and in photo opportunities during Tweet Drive events this year and in the future.

Tweet Drive is an annual, collaborative charity event that uses social media and the evolution of online collaboration tools to bring local communities together for a holiday toy drive. At the event, each guest’s donation of an unwrapped toy or book serves as their entry ticket to a night of live music, local grub, drinks and community cheer – all in honor of a beneficiary in need of toys for children during the holiday season and throughout the year.

Since its inception in 2010, Tweet Drive has garnered extraordinary social media engagement and community support and earned the honor of the American Marketing Association’s Crystal Award for an Online Marketing Campaign. The 9th Annual Tweet Drive will take place this year on December 4th in four cities: Houston, Dallas, Atlanta and Denver.  Please visit www.TweetDriveFoundation.com for more information and event details.
